YNPN San Diego Board of Directors reviews applications biannually. Board terms are for one year beginning in the spring (March) and the fall (September). If you are interested in joining the YNPN San Diego Board of Directors be prepared for an exciting ride and a lot of return on your investment. Emily Davis, YNPN SD Founder & Board Chair
At
this time, Emily Davis, is the founder and a board member for YNPN San
Diego running the marketing, outreach, communications, web
development, technical development, volunteer management, resource
development. Emily relocated to San Diego from Boulder in early 2008. While living in Boulder, CO she served on the Denver YNPN Board of Directors and has seen a great need for a YNPN Chapter in San Diego.
Emily began her career working in the field of ending violence against women more than 10 years ago as a community activist, victim advocate, and trainer. In addition to focusing on women’s health and sexual assault, she became involved in environmental and international issues. In 2003 she was awarded the Boulder County District Attorney’s Victim Advocacy Award.
Since Spring 2007, Emily has been serving as a nonprofit consultant and philanthropic advisor to various individuals and organizations through her company, Emily Davis & Associates Consulting.
Emily recently completed innovative research on intergenerational issues within the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors. She travels nationally and internationally presenting the topic and her research on emerging leaders within the nonprofit and philanthropic communities.
She has served on numerous nonprofit committees and boards in Colorado and recently completed her Masters of Nonprofit Management from Regis University. She continues to pursue grassroots projects in the local, national, and international communities from San Diego, CA.
Heather Carpenter, Board Vice Chair
Heather Carpenter, M.M.N.A., has served as a Nonprofit Manager, Consultant, Speaker and Trainer to nonprofit organizations in California and Illinois for over 7 years. She earned her Masters of Management in Nonprofit Administration from North Park University in Chicago, Illinois. Heather is currently pursuing her PhD in Leadership at the University of San Diego and serves as a Research Assistant in the Caster Family Center for Nonprofit Research. Heather has authored several practical Nonprofit Management Toolkits and blogs about Nonprofit Leadership at:

Bunmi Esho, Board Member at Large
Bunmi Esho left the corporate world as a Sales Consultant with Oracle Corporation to pursue a career in nonprofit education. After obtaining a master's degree in education, she was a classroom teacher for elementary and middle school students before entering the world of outreach education. Bunmi worked for the National Plastics Center & Museum as an Outreach Educator and then joined Junior Achievement of San Diego & Imperial Counties in 2007 as an Education Manager for the central San Diego and South Bay area.
Bunmi has a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from The University of Texas and a master's degree in education from the University of Arizona. She is a member of various local community organizations and is a founding board member of the Business Women's Global Connection. Her goal in the near future is to start up an after school program for middle-school students in the San Diego area.
Caitlyn McTaggart, Board Secretary
A native San Diegan, Caitlyn McTaggart currently works as the Development Director for the Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA in Encinitas. Her responsibilities include overseeing all fundraising activities for the branch, including major gifts, grants, annual giving, corporate giving and planned giving. Prior to accepting the position with the YMCA, Caitlyn worked as the Development Coordinator and the Foundation and Grants Manager for the YWCA of San Diego.
Caitlyn has a B.A. in Communication and Professional Writing from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a M.A. in Nonprofit Management and Leadership from the University of San Diego. She is currently involved with various community organizations including the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Rotary and the San Diego Hunger Coalition.
