Events / Programs

By sharing information, connecting individuals and building skills of emerging leaders, YNPN helps to move individuals across the continuum from emerging to seasoned leaders, ensuring San Diego's nonprofit sector has the leadership necessary to continue meeting the community's needs.

YNPN San Diego does this by:
  • Hosting quarterly Meet & Greets that create a professional community of nonprofit emerging leaders by providing a safe space to connect and network.
  • Organizing various Professional Development Gatherings that bring nonprofit emerging leaders and season leaders in dialogue with each other around career and sector development/pathing.

What do YNPN members think about the current state of the nonprofit sector?  The Young Nonprofit Professionals Network recently surveyed over 1,100 emerging nonprofit leaders across the country. Conducted in Spring 2011, YNPN’s National Voice Survey tested several interventions targeting leadership development in the nonprofit sector. The full report was launched in the Fall of 2011 at Independent Sector’s NGEN conference.

The event is special!  YNPN's National Director, Trish Tchume, heard about our book club and was eager to be a part of it.  She'll be joining us via skype to introduce the report and answer some of your questions about YNPN.

This report, written by YNPN members like you, represents a comprehensive look at the national non-profit sector and provides some key insights into what role our generation will play in the future, particularly as we become experienced nonprofit leaders.  Our discussion will focus on the report's key findings about our experiences in the nonprofit community, recommendations on how we can take better control of our own professional destiny, and how we can use the report to improve the non-profit sector here in San Diego and nationally as part of the YNPN movement.

The report is both SHORT and FREE!  You can download   "Good in Theory, Problems in Practice" Full Report or the "Good in Theory, Problems in Practice" Findings and Recommendations summary page. No time to read? No problem!  Everyone has something to contribute!

Let's get together for a thought-provoking conversation with other non-profit leaders from around San Diego.  And don't forget about Bamboo Lounge's amazing happy hour specials ($3 drafts, $5 sangria, and BOGO sushi)
