By sharing information, connecting individuals and building skills of emerging leaders, YNPN helps to move individuals across the continuum from emerging to seasoned leaders, ensuring San Diego's nonprofit sector has the leadership necessary to continue meeting the community's needs.

YNPN San Diego does this by:
  • Hosting quarterly Meet & Greets that create a professional community of nonprofit emerging leaders by providing a safe space to connect and network.
  • Organizing various Professional Development Gatherings that bring nonprofit emerging leaders and season leaders in dialogue with each other around career and sector development/pathing.
Have an idea for a Meet & Greet or Professional Development Gathering?  Share it with us!

The social sector is intimately tied to government. After all, nonprofit is nothing but a tax status, right?

Through the lens of the 2015 State of the Union delivered by President Obama and the 2015 State of the City delivered by City of San Diego Mayor Faulconer, we're going to spend some time talking through the policy issues facing the nonprofit community, both locally and nationally.

Let your inner political pundit and policy wonk shine in what will surely be a lively conversation about the good, the bad, and the ugly of government-nonprofit relations. Not too familiar with how government and nonprofits interact? This will be a great opportunity to learn.

All of this month's resources are FREE! You can view the President's State of the Union here and the Mayor's State of the City here. Check out Nonprofit Quarterly's "7 Key Nonprofit Themes from State of the Union 2015." Learn more about the issues facing the nonprofit sector from Independent Sector, a leading policy advocate for nonprofits across the nation. You can also check out www.utsandiego.com and www.vosd.org for local commentary on the various speeches.

No time to read? No problem! Just come to Book Club ready to share your experience and ideas.

Let's get together for a thought-provoking conversation with other non-profit leaders from around San Diego.  There will be food and drink provided. Special thanks to Mission Edge, YNPNsd's fiscal sponsor, for agreeing to host this conversation!

    See you February 11!

In The Power of Habit, Pulitzer Prize-winning business reporter Charles Duhigg takes us to the thrilling edge of scientific discoveries that explain why habits exist and how they can be changed. Distilling vast amounts of information into engrossing narratives that take us from the boardrooms of Procter & Gamble to sidelines of the NFL to the front lines of the Civil Rights movement, Duhigg presents a whole new understanding of human nature and its potential. At its core, The Power of Habit contains an exhilarating argument: the key to exercising regularly, losing weight, being more productive, and achieving success is understanding how habits work. As Duhigg shows, by harnessing this new science, we can transform our businesses, our communities and our lives.

Join special guest facilitator John Correia, Development Director for the San Diego chapter of the American Diabetes Association and member of the YNPNsd Community Council, for a great conversation why habits exist and how they can be changed. This is a discussion you don't want to miss!

Get the full book on Amazon here. Looking for something a bit shorter? Check out the Reader's Guide or this New York Times article. You can also check out http://charlesduhigg.com/ for blogs and videos on this very topic.
