By sharing information, connecting individuals and building skills of emerging leaders, YNPN helps to move individuals across the continuum from emerging to seasoned leaders, ensuring San Diego's nonprofit sector has the leadership necessary to continue meeting the community's needs.

YNPN San Diego does this by:
  • Hosting quarterly Meet & Greets that create a professional community of nonprofit emerging leaders by providing a safe space to connect and network.
  • Organizing various Professional Development Gatherings that bring nonprofit emerging leaders and season leaders in dialogue with each other around career and sector development/pathing.

From the specter of climate change to the challenge of deeply rooted poverty, the most pressing global problems today resist interventions that rely on top-down leadership structures. What's needed, as more and more people recognize, is collaboration. But collaborative efforts don't just happen; they require leadership--and not just any kind of leadership. In "Dawn of System Leadership," the cover story in the Winter 2015 issue of Stanford Social Innovation Review, Peter Senge, Hal Hamilton, and John Kania profile a new type of leader. System leaders, these authors argue, don't so much drive change individually as they enable a wide range of other people to engage in collective leadership.

The article is available is available for FREE on the SSIR website: http://www.ssireview.org/articles/entry/the_dawn_of_system_leadership. For those looking to do a deeper dive on the topic and related ideas, the article has links to other SSIR features, particularly those on system leadership and collective impact.

Let's get together for a thought-provoking conversation with other non-profit leaders from around San Diego.  There will be food and drink provided. Special thanks to The San Diego Foundation for hosting this conversation!

    See you April 8!
