YNPN San Diego is Officially a Nonprofit!

YNPN San Diego is proud to announce that we are officially a Nonprofit!

To our members and community partners:

While 2020 has brought its share of challenges, we have been hard at work planning for the exciting future of our organization. After 12 years of operation as a fiscally sponsored organization, YNPN San Diego is proud to announce that we are an officially designated 501(c)3 nonprofit. Since our founding in 2008, our organization has grown to include continuous online communications, formal networking events, professional development workshop series, and other member-focused programming. We remain entirely volunteer-driven, and governed by an Advisory Board representative of those the organization serves. Fully embracing our organizational values, we are excited for this next adventure for our organization.

We want you to know that this decision was made thoughtfully and strategically. Our Advisory Board members did their due diligence by connecting with other YNPN organizations across the nation with 501(c)3 status and learning from their experiences; evaluating any possible challenges and opportunities this designation would bring to YNPN San Diego’s members and the organization as a whole. Becoming a 501(c)3 allows YNPN San Diego to accept charitable donations, apply for grants and sponsorships, and ultimately reduce costs which can benefit our members. This designation will help us build a sustainable future and deliver our mission to activate diverse groups of leaders to advance the nonprofit sector in San Diego.

Thank you for being a part of the YNPN San Diego community. We look forward to continuing to engage with you through membership, networking, and events.

Sincerely,

Kristen Mihalko

2020 YNPN San Diego Advisory Board Chair

We are so grateful to everyone who took a part in the research and behind the scenes work to make this possible, even during a pandemic.

"After careful consideration and looking at our values and long-term goals for supporting emerging leaders in the local nonprofit community, becoming an incorporated 501c3 was the next step for YNPN San Diego to better serve nonprofit professionals seeking resources, connections, and support to further their careers. We are so grateful to everyone who took a part in the research and behind the scenes work to make this possible, even during a pandemic. The process of registering as a 501c3 was a great learning experience for me personally and professionally and I look forward to serving on the board in this new period of growth."

"It’s been amazing to watch our board step up to the challenge of becoming an independent nonprofit. I’m so looking forward to the growth and new opportunities this 501(c)3 status will provide us and feel so honored to be part of YNPN’s leadership during such an exiting time."
