Join YNPN San Diego on Wednesday, March 24th from 6 - 7pm for a special co-hosted event with Breaking Down Barriers!
Our Historical Trauma & COVID-19: Acknowledging the Past to Build Resilience in the Presence workshop will develop a basic understanding of how Historical Trauma impacts future generations and participate in facilitated discussions on mental health and wellbeing during COVID-19. This interactive workshop will be featuring Vanessa Pineda and Gabriela Masuda from the Breaking Down Barriers program at Jewish Family Service.
Breaking Down Barriers is an outreach program that works with underserved communities to talk about mental wellness. Through educational presentations and events, they discuss the stigma of mental health and connect participants to helpful resources. They also do cultural competency training to community members that work with these diverse populations. Breaking Down Barriers want to normalize conversations about mental wellness so everyone can thrive.
Following the presentation, from 7 - 7:30pm, YNPN invites all event participants to stay for discussion and reflection on the program.

Gabriela Masuda (She/Her)
Gabriela Masuda (she/her/hers) is the Outreach Coordinator for the Asian/Pacific Islander Community. She is a multi-generational Japanese American with a background in mental health and working with at-risk youth. She is passionate about holistic mental wellness and creativity as a form of healing. Outside of work, Gabriela enjoys traveling, creative projects, and finding the best food spots in San Diego.
Vanessa Pineda (She/Her)
Vanessa Pineda MSW Vanessa Pineda (she/her/hers) is the Outreach Manager and the Outreach Coordinator for the LGBTQIA + Community. She is Cis Gendered a multi-generational Mexican Queer with a Master’s Degree in Social Work. She has a background in mental health and vocational rehabilitation. When not at work, she enjoys arranging flowers, tending to her house plants, and baking.
