Let's hear directly from our new boardies!

Why did you join the YNPN Board?
As a San Diego native, I jumped at the opportunity to join the YNPN board so I could further explore the nonprofit ecosystem that is working so hard to benefit the lives of those around my community. Working with the dedicated YNPN members who consistently strive to advance the social sector has been a great source of inspiration, and I look forward to working together to effect positive change.
What was the last great show you binge watched?
The Good Place! It was an awesome mix of comedy and philosophy. Overall, an amazing example of original witty storytelling.

Why did you join the YNPN Board?
The timing was perfect – I had just completed a certificate program in nonprofit management and LEAD San Diego’s Advance Program when the call for new board members went out, and when I saw that YNPN was looking for a Programs Chair, it just seemed like the perfect opportunity to put some of my skills to work in service of a great organization.
What was the last great show you binge watched?
The Witcher. HUGE fantasy (and sci-fi!) nerd over here!
Maria Cuevas, Programming Committee Member
Why did you join the YNPN Board?
I joined the YNPN Board because I want to help create welcoming spaces for young adults like myself to engage in fun and meaningful events with other in the nonprofit community.

Raising Dion on Netflix
Becky Dhooge, Programming Committee Co-Chair
Why did you join the YNPN Board?
Being on the YNPN SD board is an opportunity for me to connect nonprofit professionals in San Diego, give them opportunities to grow their careers and work with amazing individuals who are making a difference in our community. I knew I had to be involved with YNPN while at the first event I attended because of the awesome people I met there.
What was the last great show you binge watched?
I am currently deep into binge watching The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. I love the quirky characters and the 60s references and fashion... And I don't think there is anyone who wouldn't fall in love with Midge Maisel. I'm still only on season two, so please no spoilers!
Lauren Hartz, Membership Committee Member
Why did you join the YNPN Board?
I wanted to join a community focused group that encouraged its members to grow with intention and have found that in YNPN San Diego. The board is very intentional and while being diverse in background, is deeply committed to the young people of San Diego.
What was the last great show you binge watched?
Letterkenny - the show’s fun and snappy dialogue makes me laugh out loud, plus the many meme-able moments means that my friends and I can frequently make jokes back and forth about it.
Matthew Jackson, Marketing Committee Co-Chair
Why did you join the YNPN Board?
I joined the Board of YNPN because I wanted to connect with other young professionals who may have a similar experience to my own. I know that many people in my generation enter the non-profit field due to their commitments to social justice, equity, and environmentalism. These values have shaped my vocational aspirations, and I could see how they are reflected in YNPN's mission and programming.
What was the last great show you binge watched?
"Casa de las Flores" on Netflix is phenomenal. It has been great for helping me learn Spanish, and I am always laughing out loud at the antics of its flamboyant characters!
