A resident of Tijuana, Aidais the Coordinator of Via International’s Via Migrante program, which addresses the growing humanitarian crisis along the U.S.-Mexico border. Born in the United States and raised in Mexico, Aida has always lived and worked in the bilingual and bicultural atmosphere of the U.S.-Mexico border.

Aida began her journey with Via International in 2017 as a Communications Coordinator, where she quickly fell in love with the organization's mission and the promotoras and communities they served. The arrival of the Central American Caravan in Tijuana in 2018 marked a turning point for her. Witnessing the injustices from both the government and Tijuana residents, Aida knew she had to take action: “No me podía quedar con los brazos cruzados!”

In 2020, Aida Renee founded the Via Migrante program, working alongside migrant community leaders to support the human dignity of migrants and repatriated individuals stranded in Tijuana while awaiting asylum in the U.S. She also established the Migrant Kitchens of Tijuana, a catering service that has provided over 100,000 meals to the migrant, repatriated, and homeless communities in Tijuana.

Additionally, Aida Renee serves as the liaison between Via International and their partner in Tijuana, Los Niños de Baja California A.C. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Communication from the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California, is a Social Program Management Graduate from Universidad Autónoma de México, and was a 2022 Kroc Border Fellow.
